Road to KS10

THOUSANDS of fans crowded Middles Beach in Puerto Rico to watch the 38-year-old Floridian create sporting history on Saturday down at the Rip Curl Pro Search Puerto Rico.

At the quarter final mark of the event Kelly Slater destroyed Adriano de Souza to win his 10th world title before going on to seal the whole event. Mobbed by thousands of fans, carried aloft on adoring shoulders with the US flag draped around his neck, he described his week as a story of two extremes following the death of his greatest rival Andy Irons aged just 32.

Slats declared he would trade all his titles just to have Irons back.  The thirty-eight year old dedicated his tenth title to Andy and to his family. The man was a god before he entered the water at Middles and this week he proved unequivocally why he deserved title number 10.
