Leonardo Fioravanti was today crowned ASP European Junior Champion during the last stop of the ASP European tour at Pontevedra in Galicia, Spain. To claim this title, the Italian surfer had to qualify for the quarters, which he achieved in some style, only to be defeated in semis.
This is the first major title for Leonardo, aged only 15, making him the youngest surfer to clinch the ASP Pro Junior Champion title. Over the past few months, the young Italian has won a string competitions within his age category in Europe and Australia (he became ISA 2013 World Champion runner-up in U-16), and is now winning contests against older surfers, last week taking out the Gran Canaria Santa Pro Junior, a three star stop.
In Galicia, Leonardo secured his title in front of Quiksilver teammate, Vasco Ribeiro who placed 3rd in the Pontevedra Pro Junior. Next week, Leonardo will compete in the King Of The Groms Final, part of the Quiksilver Pro France in Hossegor.
