Support Technician

We need a support tech to keep things running smoothly for both our users and our staff and take a lead in managing our industry leading surf webcam system.

We need someone who loves solving problems for people. You’ll be driven by a desire to give everyone using MSW the best possible experience by understanding their problems, discovering solutions and, importantly, clearly communicating the outcome.

If you’re not a coder yourself but love to take things apart and fix them back together and communicate with others, this is your chance to work for one of Europes leading surf companies.

You’ll almost certainly be a surfer - or have a keen interest in surfing. The job will put you hands on with both our users and the systems we’ve built for them, while also throwing you into a team that depend on flexible working to get in the water as often as possible.

Requirements

Some or all of the following would be advantageous:

  • Customer service experience
  • Solid understanding of desktop computer operating systems
  • Good understanding of web technologies (PHP, MySQL etc) although not necessarily experience in using them.
  • Understanding of basic network setup.
  • Linux command line experience.
  • Experience installing software under a linux / unix environment.
  • A good understanding of geography.
  • A basic grasp of surf forecasting and an interest in learning more.
  • Strong maths and written english.
  • UK Driving license.

Some national and international travel may be required as part of the role.

We want the right person, not just the right boxes ticked so any examples of relevant experience are really helpful - but aptitude is as important as experience so please don't feel put off if you think you can tackle the role but haven't actually worked in a similar position before. Likewise we take pride in creating a team you'd want to be part of so a covering letter with a little more information about yourself and why you feel you'd be a good fit is always really encouraged.

Please note the role is based in our offices in Kingsbridge, South Devon, United Kingdom and you either need to be a UK resident or eligible to work here and prepared to relocate.

*You don't need to be surfer to work for us. We design and build a web application, not laze around at the beach. Although if you have an interest in it or another action sport of a similar nature you may receive a high 5 so definitely mention it.
